Tintype Photography

We’re so excited to have Fox Tintype out at the pub.

Get a unique, 1851 photo taken in the brewery.

What is a tintype?

A tintype is a hand made photograph using a historic process from 1851, called wet plate collodion. A chemical emulsion called collodion is first poured on a sheet of metal, then submerged in a bath of silver nitrate, to make it light sensitive. The plate is then exposed, developed and fixed within 15 minutes of being poured. Each image is a 1 of 1, unique piece of art. Lastly, the images are varnished to protect the silver from tarnishing. It is now an archival quality family heirloom that will last hundreds of years!

How long will my portrait take?

Each image takes about 20-30 minutes to make

When will my tintype be ready?

Tintypes are typically ready within 7-10 days after being made. Your tintype has to be scanned and varnished at my studio after your portrait is made. If you get a portrait at a pop up event, it will be delivered back to the venue. They can also be shipped for an additional cost.

Walk-ins totally welcome.
